It was a fine beautiful day as Jenny Benigian was babysitting for her sister Anjelica Lorenteal.
Earning a penny was scarce in Jenny's family ever since her father was laid off,
and so Jenny was lucky to even earn a penny for babysitting for her sister Anjelica.
During Sunday, the stake president had came to talk to her ward about giving the pennies to give it towards the temple.
Of course Jenny wanted to do something for God's house but giving her penny away would make her cry.
And especially which the penny was her only piece of evidence that she had worked hard for, but the message was strong that Jenny was in tears that day.
How can she give up her only penny?
Jenny had stood up and had ran out of the chapel, obiviously sad that she had to give up her only penny.
Bishop Hornright had seen this and with caringly feelings he had got up and had walked out of the chapel, seeing Jenny tremble with grief and with tears flodding down his cheeks, he had compassion towards Jenny.
"Jenny are you having a hard time because what you have heard?" Bishop Hornright had asked as Jenny nodded with her tiny hands trembling and her ears flooding with tears.
"Yes sssir" Jenny said sobbing.
"Giving money is hard, especially in your state where you are. And you have every right to feel that way. But do you remember what the parable of the foolish servant who had buried his talent?" Bishop Hornright asked as Jenny had nodded then clearing her throat she had began to tell the story.
"The Master had given each servant talents, one had a more the second had a bit more and the last servant had one talent. When the master had went away, the two servants were wise with their talents and spent it wisely. But the last servant who was foolish had buried his only talent in the ground. He was afraid that he would loose the talent. When the master had came back, he had asked how they had used their talents. After the two servants had told what they did with their talents, the master had came towards the last servant, of which the servant had told he had buried his talent. The Master was angry." Jenny said with tears in her eyes, she knew that she was that foolish servant.
But Bishop Hornright didn't say that Jenny was just like the foolish servant in the parable, but he had just smiled and had gathered her in his arms and had hugged her.
"Who do you think the Master in the parable represents?" Bishop Hornright asked kindly to Jenny.
"Jesus Christ" Jenny had gussed.
"That's right Jenny, and who do you think are the Lord's servants?" Bishop Hornright asked as Jenny trembled even more.
"We are!" Jenny cried.
"Yes we are Jenny, and you are correct. We are the Lord's servants, and the talents we use are what God has given us. You see we don't own the money, the lord does and that means he loans it to us, all we have to do his pay him back by paying our tithing and fast offerings. Jenny, the lord loves you and he will never be angry with you if you keep his commandments. I know it is hard but you are doing the best that you can" Bishop Hornright said kindly as he hugged Jenny.
The next Sunday, Jenny had put her only penny in the tithting envelope, with tears in her eyes she had given it to Bishop Hornright and said with a smile but tears were in her eyes. "Here is my talent that can go towards building the temple. Bishop Hornright. Now the Lord won't have to be angry with me" Jenny said as the bishop had his own tears going down his face.
